HAROLD EVANS CRITICISES ITN LIBEL ACTION AGAINST LM MAGAZINE
One of the most respected figures in international journalism
today criticised ITN's libel action against LM magazine.
Speaking at the prestigious Freedom Forum conference 'News Traditions
and Transitions', Harold Evans said ITN's action was 'unhelpful
and inadvisable'. He called for open debate and 'an investigative
piece of reporting' into the issues raised by LM rather than ITN's
'cynical' recourse to libel law.
Evans was reinforcing remarks he made in a speech at Oxford University
on Wednesday night. |
